  • Wolfe

Baltheir wasn’t to be the main character of FFXII, Baasch was. And he would’ve made a better lead character by far.

I love the insane naming conventions of Japanese games. It’s part of their charm. Something like Revengence sounds absurd, but it’s a shit ton less boring than the kind of generic shite that comes out of my native territory. Like say, Two Worlds 2, or Bound By Flame.

Gamebryo engine needs to be put to rest. Seriously, at this point it just paints Bethesda as lazy or unwilling to take chances anymore.

    • As cool as Basch is i’m surprised he’s the main character consider he’s just Stoic tough military guy. Bally is the suave swashbuckling sky pirate with a lot more personality.

That said, I stick to what I said, fuck vaan. Don’t listen to ondore’s lies.

      • Jake Wilson

        Basch Von Ronsenburger…he is not.

      • Wolfe

He’s the generic fallen night who would’ve made a great primary hero for XII. The predictable Luke Skywalker to Balthier’s Han Solo. I loved the game, but man it woulda been so much better with those two in the lead. Instead we got Vanilla Aladdin.

        • Kain Yusanagi

He wasn’t the lead, though. Vaan was the PC, but NOT the protagonist. That was Ashe. And AFAIK, even if Basch would’ve been the PC, the story wouldn’t have changed much at all.

          • Wolfe

He was -supposed- to be the lead. Vaan and Penelo were added in when the execs felt there was no one the average Japanese gamer could relate to.

          • Kain Yusanagi

First “he” is Vaan. Context of statement I originally responded to implies Vaan is who was being called the lead.
