Star Ocean 5‘s producer Shuichi Kobayashi has revealed that the studio behind the game, Tri-Ace, will not be making any form of downloadable content or accompanying expansion packs post-release. Talking to IGN after E3, Kobayashi explained working on additional content, he believes, ‘does not really satisfy [consumers]‘
“We’d like to invest all we have into the game and make it as good as it gets. [Fans] are looking for a complete package. If you make additional scenarios and packs, Japanese consumers would come back and say ‘if this content is available, why didn’t you put it in the main game anyway?’“
While these comments may only reflect the views of Japanese consumers, it’ll definitely be interesting to see how this is viewed in the Western hemisphere. Some insight into the game’s production has previously been offered in regards to its performance; the original gameplay reveal was shown to be running at 30FPS with promises that the game would run at 60FPS come release day, offered up. Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness is expected to release in the forth quarter of this year in Japan for both PS3 & PS4 and sometime in 2016 for North America & Europe exclusively for PS4.
