Well…that was fast. Having only been live for just under twelve hours since its initial surprise announcement by series writer and director Yu Suzuki during Sony’s E3 press conference, Shenmue 3 – an eagerly demanded follow-up to the cult classic series – has reached its initial $2 million goal in little over nine hours. It was only last Friday that we reported that the upcoming Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night had broke the record for the highest funded game on the crowdfunding site, so it’ll be interesting – with a whole month left – whether or not Shenmue 3 will quickly snatch that crown from off creator Koji Igarashi & his Castlevania-inspired title.
You can find the Kickstarter project here. No stretch goals have thus far been added but it’ll be interesting to see where this fan-requested game will go now that it has been successfully funded. Shenmue 3 will be released for both PS4 & PC.
