Shadow Hearts creator Matsuzo Machida has revealed to Italian website ‘Geek Gamer‘ that he is currently working on a new game. Machida could not go in to details about the new game but it seems that it will be a new IP completely but when Geek Gamer inquired whether a continuation of Shadow Hearts could be a possibility some time in the future he said:
“I guess that there are people interested in an RPG with features from Shadow Hearts, but I also feel that they are a minority compared to fans of other RPGs in general. On a personal level, obviously the presence of such fans is indeed precious. Should I get the chance to, one day I would like to create something able to answer their expectations, and I would definitely throw all of myself into it.”
Currently the story of Shadow Hearts remains somewhat inconclusive after Shadow Hearts: Covenant (Shadow Hearts: From the New World was a spin-off story) but Machida also explained he had imagined that the protagonist Yuri’s story would continue after Shadow Hearts: Covenant. Shadow Hearts artist Miyako Kato had also prepared illustrations of Jinpachiro Hyuga (Ben Hyuga) Yuri’s father, and Kiheita Inugami, Kurando’s father, who would’ve been the protagonists of Shadow Hearts III.
