Today’s brief Pokemon Direct revealed that the next Pokemon titles will be Pokemon Sun and Moon for Nintendo 3DS. Nothing was actually shown of the games unfortunately, but we did get some neat little factoids about the upcoming games. In addition to EFIGS, Japanese, and Korean, Pokemon Sun and Moon will be officially released in Simplified and Traditional Chinese, meaning even more Pokemon Masters to encounter in the future.
The more interesting news ties in to tomorrow’s 3DS Virtual Console release of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. These Game Boy classics will actually have support with the Pokemon Bank service, allowing players to store their Pokemon online and transfer them to other supported games. What this means is you can take your Mewtwo from Generation 1 all the way to the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon later this year.
Compared to Pokemon X and Y‘s shocking Pokemon Direct reveal, it’s very underwhelming that we got to see nothing of Pokemon Sun and Moon today, but we’ll keep you posted whenever the new Pokemon adventure is finally shown off.
