As predicted by pretty much everyone, fans of the Persona series will have to wait a little bit longer for the next flagship title from Atlus. Originally slated for a 2015 launch in Japan and North America, Persona 5 will now hit the shelves in the Summer of 2016. This news comes from the Tokyo Game Show accompanied by a brand new trailer.
Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino also gave an interview detailing the stages the development team are at with the game now. The team is currently fine tuning the gameplay and decided to delay the game to live up to the fans’ high expectations. Additionally, Atlus announced that Jun Fukuyama will voice the protagonist, Nana Mizuki will voice Ann Takamaki, and Mamoru Miyano will voice Ryuji Sakamoto.
Meanwhile Atlus held a “Persona Special Stage” event at the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, where they announced that an animated special to tie-in to Persona 5 is in production. There was also a presentation previewing the game’s opening theme which was previously heard in the game’s debut trailer in instrumental form.
