Atlus and Vanillaware have announced an Odin Sphere HD Remake for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Vita. The remake, entitled Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir, will be “very different” to a straightforward remaster of Odin Sphere according to the developers, and will feature evolved gameplay systems alongside a ‘Classic Mode’ presumably for those who want an experience closer to the action 2D RPG antics of the original PlayStation 2 game. Odin Sphere was somewhat of a swan song for the PlayStation 2, with the game only reaching Europe by March 2008. As such, for people who had already moved on to the Playstation 3, Odin Sphere may have been overlooked. Atlus & Vanillaware must have found this game an ideal candidate for a remake, with their Wii title Muramasa: The Demon Blade already receiving an HD treatment for the Vita release. Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir will release in Japan January 14th 2016 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
