Roland Lesterlin, game director of Just Cause 3, was on stage to present the first trailer of Square Enix’s E3 press conference. Avalanche Studio’s ambitions for Just Cause 3 are to make it the greatest game in the franchise by adding new features, such as the wing-suit and multiple grapple hooks. At the same time, Avalanche have polished returning features, such as stabilizing the parachute and giving total control of the tension of the grapple hook. The map will be 400 square miles, the same size as Just Cause 2‘s absolutely gigantic map.
The trailer above shows a bit more insight into the story of the game and some details of the new ways Rico Rodriguez can cause things to explode. Perhaps the most interesting point to make about the E3 reveal is Roland Lesterlin’s mention of the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod, originally a fan made mod but later supported by Avalanche and made into an official download on steam. While no announcement of a multiplayer mode was made, we can probably expect something of the sort from Avalanche or, best case scenario, full modding support. Just Cause 3 will explode on to PS4, Xbox One and PC December 1st after which Avalanche will be free to focus on their equally-tense other upcoming title, Mad Max.
