Platinum Games’ sexy, sensational Umbra Witch Bayonetta has been revealed as the winner of the Super Smash Bros character ballot. From April until October this year, fans voted for the video game character they most wanted to see as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Tonight, game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that the star of the Bayonetta series was the number 1 choice among voters in Europe, as well as in the top 5 with American voters. Altogether, she was the winner of the ballot worldwide.
The Super Smash Bros Final Video Presentation was held tonight to reveal the ballot winner, as well as bring news to fans on the last helping of add-on content for the 3DS and Wii U game. (Go to 18:22 for the Bayonetta reveal)
In regards to Bayonetta – Sakurai broke down her fighting style, revealing her moves and animations to be incredibly faithful to her portrayal in Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2. Her default outfit is that seen in the sequel, but there’s also the option to wear her attire from the original game, as well as a colour option rsembling her sister Jeanne. Bayonetta uses her magical handguns, and a multitude of Wicked Weave attacks, with her Final Smash of course involving a demonic summoning.
Bayonetta is set to be released as downloadable content in February. At the same time, the Umbra Clock Tower stage will also be added. This is a set-piece from the very beginning of the original Bayonetta game, in which the witch combats an army of Angels on the face of a crumbling clock tower falling from a mountaintop. The My Music screen shows 11 tracks from Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 that will be useable as background music on the stage. These are:
-Let’s Hit the Climax!
–Theme of Bayonetta – Mysterious Destiny
–One of a Kind
–Riders of the Light
–Red & Black
–After Burner (∞ Climax Mix)
-Let’s Dance, Boys!
-Tomorrow Is Mine (Bayonetta 2 Theme) (Instrumental)
-The Legend of Aesir
-Time For The Climax!
The DLC will also include trophies for Bayonetta, Jeanne, Rodin, and Cereza. Finally, Sakurai confirmed that an amiibo for Bayonetta (as well as for fellow DLC characters Cloud Strife and Corrin), will be released in the future.
