Bandai Namco Entertainment have confirmed a slew of releases for 2016 during a company event at this year’s Jump Festa. So let’s run down the news, and recap with all the games due from Bandai Namco 2016.
Tales of Berseria has been confirmed for a Western release next year on PlayStation 4 and PC. It serves as a prequel set in the same world as this year’s Tales of Zestiria. Berseria stars Velvet; a female protagonist, though not the first for the series like some will try to say – conveniently forgetting Tales of Xillia‘s spirit summoner Milla Maxwell. While Berseria is set to release in Japan for the PlayStation 3 in addition to the PS4, it will not be the case in the West. Presumably Tales of Zestiria performed poorly on the PS3 in the Western market, prompting this response as more players in North America and Europe have moved on from the last-generation system.
Furthermore, Tales of Symphonia will be releasing on PC on the 2nd of February 2016. The remastered classic will be free to those who preordered the Steam edition of Tales of Zestiria as well.
Hunting series God Eater will be seeing two games released in the West this year. The original God Eater was released for the PSP here under the title Gods Eater Burst back in 2011. Well the game is dropping that unnecessary ‘S’ and making its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC with a remake entitled God Eater Resurrection. It’s due to release in the West sometime in Summer 2016, as is an enhanced version of the sequel called God Eater 2 Rage Burst which will also be out for PS4, Vita, and PC.
Never-ending pirate manga and anime One Piece is getting a new 3-vs-3 fighting game next June. One Piece: Burning Blood will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and even PlayStation Vita. Luffy’s 4th Gear form will be a pre-order DLC character just to let you know.
On the subject of anime – PlayStation Vita exclusive Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS–Force will shockingly be localised and will receive a digital release sometime in 2016.
To round out the anime and manga tie-ins, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven for the PlayStation 4 has been confirmed for a Western release in Summer 2016. The 2-vs-2 game will feature over 50 playable characters from across the 8 Parts of the JJBA manga franchise. It serves as a successor to the PlayStation 3’s All-Star Battle, and is being made once again by Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm developers CyberConnect 2.
Update: A day later and Bandai Namco have announced another title. Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization based on the successful anime franchise will be making its way West for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Autumn 2016.
With all that news recapped, here’s what the release calendar looks like for Bandai Namco in 2016:
