“Ace Attorney 6” for Nintendo 3DS will be coming West this September as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, Capcom have revealed today. Series fans may be disappointed to learn however, that like Dual Destinies, they’ll only be able to buy Spirit of Justice as a digital download on Nintendo’s eShop. The series is again skipping a retail release, but will be priced at 24.99 Pounds, 29.99 Euros, and 29.99 US Dollars. 2015’s Victorian-era prequel known as “The Great Ace Attorney” doesn’t appear to be part of Capcom’s localisation plans either. It’s a shame this series is still given the niche treatment by the publisher when a large portion of its loyal Western fanbase would gladly buy a physical version. I’d still class Ace Attorney as a popular franchise in fact, especially as there’s an anime series currently airing both in Japan and on worldwide streaming services.
Anyway, Spirit of Justice will see Phoenix Wright head to the Kingdom of Kura’in – an Asian land which is the home of spirit mediums. Channeling is back in a big way this time, as you’ll be cross examining the spirits of dead victims, and using the new ‘Seance Sight’ mechanic to investigate a victim’s final moments. Apollo Justice will also make a return taking cases for the Wright Anything Agency, and exploring secrets of his own past.
The game also promises an upgrade to the scientific investigation features, letting players examine video footage and dust evidence for prints. The Mood Matrix and Revisualisation mechanics also make a comeback, and hints can be turned on and off. You can check out the reveal trailer below:
